PLOT

Retired schoolteacher Mabel Ostrowski never planned on becoming a detective. She planned on seeing every national park in America before her knees gave out entirely — with Button, her stubborn dachshund, riding shotgun in a converted Airstream she calls The Breadloaf.

Especially not after she finds the missing camper's journal, its final entry describing a cryptic meeting with a "trail ranger" that no park authority has any record of.
