PLOT
Nadia Solano has built her reputation on being the most visible person in any room. As director of the Calloway Foundation, she has turned charitable giving into a cultural event, her face the luminous center of every gala, every press push, every carefully orchestrated moment of public generosity. So when a photographer catches her leaving a private party with a man no one can identify, and the internet decides the story before she can, Nadia does not panic. She calls in a professional.
Marcus Vane does not do press cycles or public appearances. He dismantles threats quietly, surgically, without leaving fingerprints. He agreed to escort Nadia through two weeks of controlled public exposure to kill the scandal before it kills her foundation's funding. What he did not agree to was remembering her. The one night they spent together eight months ago -- the night neither of them has named aloud since -- has been buried under professionalism and mutual good sense. Except that Nadia is twelve weeks pregnant, and the story she has been managing for the public is not the only story she has been managing.
As the cameras close in and the gala season reaches its peak, Marcus and Nadia must hold a performance of easy togetherness that neither of them feels. The problem is that the performance is starting to feel like the truth. And the truth, when it comes, will ask far more of Marcus than any threat he has ever neutralized -- and will ask Nadia to let someone see what she looks like when the flash goes out.
